2027 Galaxy Community Conference (GCC2027)
The yearly conference of the Galaxy community, where researchers, developers, and educators from around the world meet to share science, learn, and shape the future of open data analysis.
GCC2027 CollaborationFest (CoFest!)
What is CoFest?
CoFest is two days of hands-on, collaborative work that follows the Galaxy Community Conference. Participants team up on projects that make Galaxy better: wrapping tools, building workflows, writing training material, improving the user interface and the code base, and growing the community itself.
- Everyone’s welcome. You don’t need to be a developer, and newcomers are especially encouraged to join.
- Work in project teams. Each project has a lead and real, achievable goals, and you’re free to switch teams or join more than one.
- No rigid agenda. You don’t need to know anyone or arrive with a finished plan. Just show up, find your people, and leave having built something real together.
CoFest through the years
CoFest grew out of the GCC coding hackathons, first held at GCC2014, and has become a GCC tradition. At GCC2026 in Clermont-Ferrand, participants worked on 19 projects, from AI agents and Kubernetes to new training materials and ecology tools.

More details on our plans for this year’s CoFest will be shared as they become available.
